A Make a Difference Days shift for two of our employees set on stocking shelves at the Goldstream Food Bank took an interesting turn this morning. Kelly Shaw and Vanessa Hembroff joined food bank staff in salvaging items from a grocer semi-trailer truck that crashed and jackknifed on the TC Highway. More than 3 truck-loads of items including bread, flour, canned goods, cleaning products and toiletries were recovered and will be able to be used by those in need. Luckily there were no injuries with the crash, only to Kelly’s volunteer shoes which met a sticky fate in some of the damaged items. Luckily she had some extra heels under her desk to change into when she returned to her shift at Island Savings later in the morning.
