A big thank you to the many volunteers and members of the Cowichan Women Against Violence Society for their recent efforts in hosting a free Community Picnic June 14th at Centennial Park in Duncan. The night featured a free BBQ, live entertainment and a host of family activities. Island Savings a division of First West Credit Union was proud to lend a hand in the Kids Zone and helped to oversee a number of fun outdoor activities including our always popular face painting station. Thank you to our team of volunteers Faith Lee, Selina Powell, Chris Waddell and Brooklyn Mann who also serves as a Director on the CWAV Board.

The Cowichan Women Against Violence Society has been supporting the community for more than 40 years now. The organization works from a feminist perspective to provide a supportive environment to women and children who have been affected by abuse. They support diversity, change, choice and growth through counselling, advocacy, emergency shelter, community development and education. To talk with someone, to get help with court services, counselling, to find help for your children, or to look at returning to work, call their community office at 250-748-7000.
