Winning the $50,000 SimpleGenerosity grant from Island Savings a division of First West Credit Union would support the Crime Reduction and Exploitation Diversion Program in the Capital Regional District. The goal of the program is to prevent youth involvement in gang activity by providing targeted intervention and support to youth at high risk of gang involvement, youth displaying gang-related behaviours and youth who are gang-entrenched. Funding is critical to sustainability and building a model with other agencies and institutions in the area to support youth and families in finding safe and healthy ways to manage through the increasing challenges associated with youth gang influences.
