Winning the $50,000 SimpleGenerosity grant from Envision Financial, a division of First West Credit Union will support Money for Living, a program focused on nutritional/food literacy and financial literacy. The Money for Living program covers topics on budgeting, understanding choices around debt, credit, banking, savings, and financial planning. This eight week program also includes interactive workshops centered around the use of Crock Pots and will aim to provide both children and their parents with many ‘hands on’ opportunities to learn, develop, and demonstrate a myriad of skills. Children will learn about the importance of healthy lifestyles and will reap the long-term benefits of social/emotional interaction with peers and family, while gaining confidence in acquiring skills for preparing and creating healthy meals. Linkages can be made to math, science and other developmental learning opportunities in relation to our students’ school curriculum. Thank you for helping us celebrate Canada150 and strengthening our communities with SimpleGenerosity!
