What inspires you to volunteer?
I love being around people
It gives me great pleasure to interact with various individuals in all walks of life so that I may learn and grow from their knowledge and wisdom. When volunteering at events, such as fundraisers, I feel proud that I am part of an event that will benefit the less fortunate or enhance others' lives.Which cause(s) are you most passionate about and why?
Chilliwack Hospice Society is my main focus. I have personally experienced a loss through cancer and have seen first hand how this ugly disease affects the lives of many. Being involved with the patients truly is humbling.
What impact have you seen the organization(s) you work with, and their volunteers, make in the community?
Chilliwack Hospice Society staff and volunteers provide programs and services to support people in our community who are dying and/or bereaved. All of the programs and services are non-denominational and free of charge.
What support is needed by the organization(s) and how can people learn more or get involved?
Hospice offers many volunteer opportunities including working at their thrift store, Thrifty Boutique, providing companionship to patients, assisting with planning and taking part in fundraisers such as their annual Gala.
